I think I have to be over it

I haven’t written in quite a while. Needless to say, I have been taking the time to finish what I’m in and relax into a new season in life. Literally. Summer is here. Not technically, but in Houston it is here. Hot, sunny days that beg for the pool. Restless teenagers and teachers ready for the final bell. As I wrote in the previous post, I did lost my job in April. The good news is that I did shortly after recieve an offer(after interviewing) for a private school position. I accepted, bittersweetly remembering that this was not my choice, but yet also that sometimes my choices were not always the best. Trusting that some things just happen, whether reasonable or not, and that on the flip side quite possibly those same inexplicable things strengthen you and teach you more about yourself, your values, and the world around you. I am happily resting in that place at the moment. Once again, I am packing my classroom, venturing into a new position, to begin a somewhat new assignment.

Before that chapter truly opens, I get to pause, in a space that is my favorite. The summer to be spent with my family and friends, away from home, in places I love.

Anna Maria Island

We are spending a month on the island we love, this year celebrating ten years of marriage by having a number of friends and family join us for a portion of our stay. We have never been more ready than this year to leave Houston for a bit, to recharge and spend time doing the things we love. We leave in less than a week, and can’t wait.

We are also going on a new adventure this summer. We usually travel up to Colorado to visit old friends and camp in our favorite area, near Crested Butte. We will do that, but then we are going to travel up to Montana for a couple of weeks. Davy and I have both been curious about Montana for years, after reading books by the naturalist Rick Bass, in which he describes his life in the Yaak valley, in a remote corner of Northwest Montana. This summer, we finally going to venture up there and check it out. We are excited to explore a place that is new to us… and to share this with each other and the kiddos.

In the meantime, I will be reading, writing, running, and of course, trying to be true to what matters. Here are a few photos from the last month or so…
